Assembling the piece allows the user to become a part of the production, not just a consumer; care and attention in the process gives an in depth look at the craftsmanship and ingenuity of the design.
The knockdown construction allows the piece to be flat packed and taken with the user during moves, or transferal of ownership.
The core of this design is the steel rod with its threaded holes perpendicular to the length. Taking inspiration from the humble cross dowel nut, the rods become structural and aesthetic elements.
Like a contrasting wedge or tusk in a traditional through-tenon, the machine screw and cross dowel protrude slightly to showcase the construction of the piece.
